Mt. Quincan Crater Retreat is situated approximately 5km from Yungaburra Township (population 932), and one hour from the regional city of Cairns. The 4 star exclusive, multi award winning retreat is located in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands in the Cairns Hinterland, and is nestled on the side of Mt. Quincan Crater; an extinct volcano. This volcano erupted approximately 16,000 years ago, and the retreat boasts spectacular views of the water filled crater along with 360 degree views of the surrounding Atherton Tablelands, a breath taking scene and one of the best views the region has to offer. The retreat has an established 8 hectare nature reserve which adjoins a further 43 hectare reserve listing of Mabi Forest. Home to a myriad of natural flora and fauna including Lumholtz's Tree Kangaroo, Mt. Quincan Crater Retreat offers exclusive accommodation in stunning timber pole constructed treehouses which are sensitively placed within the natural rainforest slopes, affording stunning views and complete privacy.
Mt. Quincan Crater Retreat is a unique piece of paradise that encapsulates romantic rainforest isolation on the slopes of an extinct volcano. In its current format, the retreat boasts 6 uniquely designed luxurious timber pole treehouses, three of which feature an outdoor shower privately encased within the secluded rainforest. These tree houses are completely self-contained and offer the highest standard of luxury and privacy and cater primarily to couples. Additionally, there is approval in place for the construction of a further two tree houses. All of these tree houses have been strata titled. This, therefore, offers another potential investment opportunity by allowing a future owner the opportunity to on-sell these tree houses. There is also an established body corporate structure in place to facilitate this should the need arise.
The retreat also boasts an architecturally stunning Reception and Conference and Function Centre, also of timber pole construction. Perched on the top of the property in the northern aspect, this building offers spectacular 360' degree views. The retreat as a whole won the 2013 and 2014 FNQ Tourism Award for Hosted Accommodation.
Mt. Quincan Crater Retreat owes its ongoing success and good name to its owners, who have put 17 years of effort into building the retreat from the ground up. Everything about the Retreat speaks quality. Every building is of the highest structural integrity, and all has been lovingly maintained on a regular basis. Much of the success of this enterprise lies in its simplicity the owners have identified the best market to suit the retreat and by minimising overheads, the Retreat is a decent money earner for owners, even factoring in the cost of full time Managers.
The retreat would be an ideal superannuation vehicle for semi-retirees and there is potential for hobby farming some cattle on the flat country, with capacity in excess of 50 head if running cows and calves. The retreat would also appeal to a family buy in arrangement, particularly with the double owners' residences on the property suitable for this format. For someone interested in a B&B lifestyle, all the hard work and research has gone into the development of Mt. Quincan meaning you can simply walk in and reap the rewards.
